CHINESE CALLIGRAPHY COURSE

The ancient art of Chinese calligraphy is world-renowned for its gestural movement and painterly touch. Not only is it a functional way of writing, but it is also considered an art form within Asian culture. With its close relationship to ink wash and watercolour painting, attaining the skills of this calligraphic style will build upon your pre-existing painting and drawing abilities, as well developing a new knowledge base for this historically significant medium.

During one to one sessions of this course, our skilled tutors will take you step-by-step through the various techniques, styles, and histories of this genre. Learn about different types of papers and brushes and their historical significance, as well the diverse range of inks, and ways of articulating marks and compositions. Perhaps even pick up on some Chinese characters as well! This course is intended for pupils across all skill levels –

We will be able to accommodate specific interests as well as teach more general techniques and methods. Feel free to experiment and sharpen your skills in an energizing and creative yet meditative and relaxing atmosphere.

Suitability

The Chinese calligraphy course is based on one to one tuition and is suitable for art students of all levels (including professional artists who would like to experiment with new techniques).  Consistent with the philosophies behind Chinese Calligraphy, our aim is to make the classes fun and sociable so that you can unwind from the London frenzy.

They graduated from world leading art colleges such as the China Academy of Art in China,  Tsinghua University in China, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore, Guangzhou Academy of Fine Art in China and Taipei Municipal University of Education in Taiwan. They exhibit their work in the UK as well as internationally, and have appeared in various publications and programs, including those of the BBC. These qualities guarantee the high success rate our students achieve in entering the programmes of their choice.

For your reference, you can book one to one classes between the following times:

Mon-Fri: between 10am - 6pm (last class beginning at 4pm)
