Who Are You?

The ideal candidate must have knowledge about fine art techniques in the academic tradition. You will be responsible for teaching some of our weekly art courses. In particular:

  • We are looking for a passionate teacher that will provide excellent guidelines in applying techniques and materials.
  • The teacher must posses patience and willingness to deal with both young (children or teens) and adult students from different backgrounds and with different levels of skill
  • The ideal candidate should have some previous experience in teaching drawing and painting and should have a strong portfolio.
  • The candidate is required to have an artistic academic background, with an excellent understanding of techniques and the use of oil paint, acrylics, watercolours and charcoal.
  • The candidate will be able to recognise the needs and skill levels of each student and adapt their tuition accordingly.
  • You have an understanding of human anatomy for life drawing lessons.

Hours

You will work 2 to 3 days a week delivering on-site art courses (usually for 4 hours a day). Our weekday classes are held between 4-6pm and 6:30-8:30pm. If you prefer working on a weekend day (e.g. sunday) you can deliver 3 classes starting with our 10am-12pm, 13-15pm, and 15:30-17:30pm lessons.

Therefore, the hours for our on-site classes are flexible as we have classes during late afternoon and early evening as well as weekends throughout the whole week. This means that you will be able to purse your other commitments outside of the centre. The on site classes have maximum 10 students.

You will work on a probation period for 2 months. After this time, you can choose to continue with the same working hours as a freelancer or consider the opportunity to work more hours by having one-to-one students.

Pay Rate and Benefits

Job Description

We are looking for a freelance Full Stack developer that can join our in-house creative team at the Sunny Art Centre. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining our e-commerce website using the existing architecture. You will also be responsible for implementing new designs, taking care of both the front and back ends.

You will be maintaining the existing plug-ins and incorporate new ones to improve upon the exiting functions offered by the website. Your minimalist coding will ensure that you will keep the website tidy from bugs and errors. You will also ensure that the website, its plug-ins, and the infrastructure are always up to date. This includes analytical tools, ads and marketing integrations, databases, servers and APIs.

The Position

We are looking for a freelance post production video editor to join our team on a regular basis. The main position will encompass the creation of our online art courses as arranged with our team of tutors and designer. Occasionally, the candidate will also need to edit new video-advertisements, documentaries, and art videos.

You will join our creative team and will focus mainly on editing quality footage and apply animations during post production. An ability to create animations is therefore essential.

This is an exciting opportunity for anyone wishing to work in an arts environment. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of editing experience for the creative industry. Moreover, the candidate must have knowledge and experience with the following:

  • Sony and Canon cameras, lenses and footage settings.
  • Able to work as part of a team.
  • Efficient in editing in post production.
  • Ability to create overlay animations with after effects or similar software.

We will provide all the shooting hardware alongside new state of the art equipment but we currently have not editing software as we understand videographers usually prefer to work on their computer and preferred editing software.

Pay

Please note that the position requires a minimum in-house commitment of 2 to 3 days per week in order to work with our in-house team of creatives (we do not accept remote work or agency proposals).

The pay is £10 per hour. Hours may very every week depending on the amount of work that needs to be done and a timetable is usually arranged prior to the beginning of any project.

We require at least 5 years of relevant work experience as a web developer, UI developer, JavaScript expert or front-end engineer either in commercial projects or open-source projects.

You must be both technically proficient and have a keen eye for design and UI/UX. In this role, you’ll make a significant contribution to translating our customer needs and user expectations into interactive user experiences. You are an exceptional problem solver with great communication skills and are able to optimize our application in terms of technology and in delivering the best user experience. Your responsibilities will include translating design wireframes into the code that will produce visual elements of the application.

At all times, you will be working with our designer and back end developer to bridge the gap between graphic design and technical implementation, taking an active role in defining how the application looks, as well as how it works. Ideally, you should be able to demonstrate hands-on experience in using current trends and best practices in front-end architecture, including performance optimization, accessibility, and usability.

You will be working at our open-plan office at our beautiful gallery space, which houses an extensive collection of old masters paintings and sculptures from west and east. 

As a WP developer, you will be responsible for both back-end and front-end maintenance, upgrading and development of sunny art centre’s official website, including the implementation of WordPress themes and plugins, as well as site integration and security updates.

The ideal candidate must have at least five years of experience in WordPress. The candidate should have in-depth knowledge of front-end programming languages, a good eye for aesthetics, and robust content management skills. Undertake occasional receptionist duties. File and update contact information of employees, customers, suppliers and external partners.

  • Writing promotional materials and handle our Social Media accounts.
  • Develop and maintain a filing system. Participate in the organisation of our upcoming exhibitions alongside other events. Prepare and disseminate correspondence, memos and forms.
  • Bookkeeping will involve recording financial transactions through Xero. Document expenses and hand in reports.
  • Support and facilitate the completion of regular reports. The candidate will report to the manager, who is usually responsible for new content and projects and will write a weekly report on task performance and duties completed, keeping the team informed on any progress.
